The Freedom Film Network (FFN) and ENGAGE are once again bringing you a unique Freedom Film Fest, focusing on International Human Rights.

This event is exclusively brought to you by REKAN Community Library (Muar), Sanren Space (Batu Pahat), Kluang Days (Kluang), P320 Community Space and Durian Guesthouse (Kulai), Imagine Pekan Nanas (Pekan Nanas), Department of Journalism and Communication, Southern University College and Southern New Media Center (Johor Bahru), who co-organize this exciting festival for the first time.

Themed “Bangsa: Manusia” (“Race: Human”), #FFF2020 will happen online via the streaming platform CloudTheatre and feature eight brand new films from Malaysia and one from Singapore. These films bravely tackle timely issues on identity and representation. They tell stories which challenge prejudice and stereotypes faced by groups often overlooked and underrepresented in mainstream media.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic that is raging around the world, Southern Malaysia Freedom Film Fest will be screening  "Meniti Senja / The Twilight Years" (directed by Lily Fu) online on December 13 (Sunday), from 4 to 5 pm. In addition to online screenings, the co-organizers in Southern Malaysia will also conduct a small screening simultaneously.

After the premiere, two guest speakers Chua Yee Ling (initiator of Village Vision) and Ku Chee Yong (former village head of Grisek Muar) will have a sharing session hosted by Ashleigh Lim Chun Ling (ENGAGE Committee).

Movie Night

We live a thousand lives through books, and through movies. The cozy ambience and large projector screen in Kluang Days make this an ideal spot for a movie night out. This was a private event so it felt even more intimate and sensational. What should we watch next?
